Our Artists

Jack

Jack has been tattooing since 1993. He has been published in multiple magazines and has won several awards for his tattooing. Jack does truly enjoy doing all styles, though he is most well-known for his photorealistic black and gray. He believes that the customer should have a good idea of what they want, but is more than willing to help them realize their full vision. All in all, Jack thinks the tattoo should be a fun, positive experience, and does his best to offer that to all of his clients.

Body Piercing by DaVo

DaVo became the first professional trained piercer to operate in Iowa when he started piercing at Creative Images in Des Moines in May of 1994. After leaving Creative Images in February of 1995, he went on to open his own studio the Axiom in March of 1995 in what is now called the East Village area of Des Moines. In October 1999 he closed the studio on E. 5th St. and moved into Skin Kitchen Tattoo where he and The Axiom Body Piercing Studio continue to operate today.

Jimmy St John

Jimmy has been Tattooing since 1999 and has tattooed all over the United State and even Japan. He will be tattooing by appointment or walk-in through the winter and plans on making Des Moines his headquarters in the future.

Brent Starr

  1. Bstarr has tattooed for 10 years. His career began at several shops in Keokuk, IA, eventually landing in Des Moines in his dream chair @The Skin Kitchen in early 2020, undeterred by the pandemic fear campaign. His favorite styles to work in are illustrative, fantasy, impressionist and black and grey realism.

Body Piercing by Shannon

Shannon is our new apprentice at Axiom Body Piercing studying under DaVo. She started her apprenticing journey on November 1st, 2020. As of the writing of this, March 22, 2021, she is currently working her way through checking out the various piercings under DaVo's supervision and continuing her training. If you would like to help her learn, you can receive a 10 dollar discount off regular pricing.

At the age of 13, Shannon got her first lobe piercings and her interest in the industry began to grow instantly. She found stretching fascinating and began stretching her own lobes.
